Millions all over the world know and love actress Gates McFadden for her years spent aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise as Dr. Beverly Crusher in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” but for over 35 years McFadden has also pursued her passion as a celebrated acting and movement teacher.

In this interactive zoom class open to all – both serious acting acting students and fans alike, McFadden will share personal stories from her own background as well as offer helpful tools that anyone can use on stage or in life to increase confidence and create believable characters on stage or in film. Students will be asked to submit their questions in advance to ensure a productive, informative and fun experience for all.

Among the topics to be discussed:

How to figure out who a character is and how they behave.

How to “disappear” into a character.

How to overcome fear and be in the moment.

How to handle props and special effects.

How to deliver a successful audition.

How to do deal with the unexpected.

Jacques LeCoq Ecole Movement and Theatre in Paris, France.

Coached acting to puppeteers

Taught acting for directors at Chapman University Film School.

Served as Assistant Professor at Brandeis University

Served on the acting faculties of NYU Tisch Graduate School of the Arts, USC Graduate and Undergraduate programs, University of Pittsburgh, American Academy of Dramatic Arts NYC, Taught seminars at Harvard.

Served as guest lecturer for NY Stony Brook Brooklyn College, Eckerd College, George Washington University and many others

Lead many private specialized acting workshops

Directed several theatrical productions

Brooklyn Academy of Music Thratre Company under the artistic direction of RSC’s David Jones.
